The Importance of Norovirus Vaccine
Norovirus vaccines are crucial in the fight against norovirus, a highly contagious virus that causes gastroenteritis, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Additional symptoms may include abdominal pain, headache, and chills. Symptoms typically appear 24 to 72 hours after exposure and spread easily from person to person. It can be contracted through contaminated food and water. Norovirus can also survive on surfaces for extended periods, contributing to its rapid spread, especially in crowded environments like schools, nursing homes and cruise ships. Having a norovirus vaccine would be a powerful tool in preventing infections and outbreaks. Currently there is not a vaccine to help prevent norovirus.
